The reason why foreigners study Vietnamese is not effective

Vietnamese is difficult to learn for foreigners because: 
•    Language is not commonly used. Vietnamese is used only with the Vietnamese community, which is not common in the world. Therefore, many foreigners had no access to this language before coming to Vietnam, so they did not know where to start; how to learn it.
•    Speech impediment. Vietnamese is the most toned language. The essence of Vietnamese consists of 6 tones: sắc, hỏi, ngã, nặng, ngang, huyền. The tone will change the meaning of a word. Due to the complexity of tone, it is not easy to hear and use words exactly.
•    Obstacles to the arrangement of words and punctuation. In Vietnamese, just change the position of words or sentences and the meaning of sentences will change. For example, with the puzzle of combining the five words "nó, bảo, sao, không, đến" into meaningful sentences, it sounds simple, but it actually makes people think a lot. 
•    Trouble with the word address. Vietnamese has many different ways of addressing depending on the relationship, age, gender, and communication circumstances of the parties. This makes it very difficult for foreigners to choose the appropriate address and avoid misunderstanding.
How to learn Vietnamese effectively:
•    Studying with Vietnamese teachers. Set specific schedules for taking courses with Vietnamese teachers. Directly guided learning will help you learn more effectively, have the opportunity to practice more with native speakers, and increase your ability to communicate.
•    Practice: Spend the weekend touring the attractions where you live in Vietnam and communicate with the people there. This is a big challenge to test your skills. Furthermore, it provides an opportunity for you to come into contact with local languages.
